The Nature of Our Research Programs

What is “Research?”

Only those who are inexperienced or uninformed about the nature of “research” expect that “research” applies to just academics or large, well-funded laboratories.

Anyone who patiently, carefully, systematically makes diligent inquiry or examination of some field of interest, who attempts to establish facts or principles that expose truth, is doing “research.”

Under this broad but accurate definition of “research” every one of us engages in genuine “research” during some aspect of our lives.

John desires to purchase a power mower. John therefore studies consumer articles on power mowers, patiently, systematically and diligently comparing pros and cons of each one advertised. He concludes that the Acme wyiz power mowerwill be the best for his purposes.

John has just performed “research.”

That’s one of the “research” methods used by Royden Brown when he discovered the value of properly prepared bee pollen, as described in Bee Pollen: The Perfect Food, in our “articles” section.

Attorney Susan has a client, George, who has been denied access to his newly purchased property by belligerent owners, so that George’s property is landlocked. Susan studies their state codes and learns that George has a right to access. She further reads up on state case histories and finds several that apply right-on.

Attorney Susan has just performed “research” on behalf of her client.

That’s how Colostrum Therapy Legal Evaluation was prepared by Diane M. Miller, Esq., at the request (and funding) of this foundation.

Jim is a writer who is interested in the life of lumberjacks. He could do his “research” by reading what others have to say, and then synthesize what he’s learned into his own article, but he chooses to learn about lumberjacks directly, by living their life. He therefore takes a job in Oregon working among lumberjacks, graduating from cook’s helper to a tree-topper, one who climbs the tall trees and cuts tops off before the tree is grounded.

Jim has “researched” his subject well, having learned every aspect of the trade. He writes an expert, well-researched book on lumberjacking.

That’s how Jack M. Blount, M.D., and Anthony di Fabio got well from Rheumatoid Arthritis, as described in Rheumatoid Arthritis: Two Case Histories, and that’s how they were able to write about Professor Roger Wyburn-Mason’s treatment program.

Bobbie is working toward his PhD in a large state university, his field organic chemistry. After many months of laboratory synthesis and experiments, his major professor agrees with him that he’s cracked the code of the composition of a rare and costly organic compound.

Bobbie’s years of study and trials were all part of a very precise, systematic, patient, carefully planned form of “research.”

On funding by this foundation, that’s how Richard Franson, Ph.D., Kwang Jeon, Ph.D., Jack Neff, Ph.D., Brian Susskind, Ph.D., Dr. Paul K. Pybus and many others were able to report on the details of the Rheumatoid Arthritis infectious processes and the curative powers of the 5-nitroimidazoles in our section on Research & Letters.

Carrie travels from clinic to clinic, observing patients in their treatment, interrogating doctors, looking over patient records; and Carrie also reads many journals related to her subject of interest — arthritis. Based on all she’s learned, she writes several books on arthritis.
Carrie’s books are a result of her “research.”

To augment her “research,” Carrie, who also suffers from different forms of arthritis, tries a number of different treatments, closely observing the effect on her own body. She also entices friends to try some of these treatments, and together their carefully observed results form additional “researched” information which provides the basis for further articles and books.

Carrie and her friends have performed “research” by questioning experts, observing patients, and trying different treatment modalities on themselves.

That’s how Anthony di Fabio came to write several definitive books on achieving wellness from arthritis, as shown on our website in Rheumatoid Diseases Cured at Last, The Art of Getting Well, Arthritis: Little Known Treatments, and Arthritis: Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid Disease Including Rheumatoid Arthritis.

Sam was a practicing chiropractor who had the good fortune to work with medical doctors in the oncology (cancer) department in a medical hospital. His interest in solving the cancer problem grew out of their experimental research and eventually the central focus of his work became that of frequency resonance therapy. He apparently discovered a simple means of reproducing Royale Rife’s spectacular work. Sam’s work in frequency resonance therapy led him to do additional experimental work in many areas of health, including cancer, spinal cord injury such as spina bifida, atherosclerosis, Lyme arthritis disease, dissolving of internal scar tissue, and many infectious diseases. Despite extreme poverty and other hardships, Sam pursued his “research” quest with almost a religious fervor, and, indeed, Sam’s is a very religious man, believing that God has given him his wonderful healing insights.

That is how Dr. John Myers’ “research” came to the attention of The Arthritis Trust of America, where he’s been provided with small, sustaining grants from time to time. He also was asked to complete more formal scientific studies by the National Alternative Medicine Foundation. The potential impact on human health is so huge that his work cannot be ignored. Should the work be reproducible, true and consistent, he will have created a large dent in human misery. Dr. Myers’ bio and link to his audio file can be viewed at Directors section.

Lewis is executive director of a non-profit foundation dedicated to solving the arthritis scourge. Toward that end his board of directors authorizes expenditure of funds to determine whether one medicine is better than another. They engage statisticians, medical doctors and a small number of patients in a study that tries out a new, promising medicine. The new medicine is successful, apparently curing some of the patients.

This small “open” trial was a form of “research.”

However, since, in an “open” trial, both the patients and doctors were not “blinded,” i.e., the doctors knew that the pill had hopes and the patients knew the same, this small trial had to be confirmed by double-blind studies where neither the patient nor the doctor knew who was receiving the new drug or the placebo pill. Forty suitable patients were chosen to engage in the double-blind study.

End results if this “research” were finally published in a medical abstract, showing no significant gain in curing arthritis. On further analysis of the methods used and the results reported, it was learned that the clinicians had not followed the proper protocol, and so the “research” was useless, the money falsely expended.

In Research & Letters, you will find a history on exactly the above, sadly, after unknowingly being deceived and the misleading expenditure of scarce “research” dollars.

After many years of effort the Acme Cancer Foundation’s Chief Executive Officer, Charlie, was able to secure a large government grant, amounting to $40,000,000 for the purpose of performing a large-scale double-blind study using a new drug formulation. One thousand patients were chosen in ten different clinics. Careful statistical controls were developed and communicated to all contributing physicians.

Alas! After many months of “research,” the new drug was found to be no better than nothing at all!

You will not find this condition on our website because even though we know most of the major causes of arthritis and how to cure this terrible affliction, these truths have not yet reached the eyes and ears of those who command $40,000,000. But, carefully review most any study sponsored by those who control such wealth. You’ll find that virtually all of these large-scale studies based on wondrous, new “breakthroughs” are large-scale failures. Several excellent books will explain why this is so. Start with Racketeering in Medicine by James P. Carter, M.D., Dr. Ph.H. You can order this book through any book store.

After a life-time of brilliant laboratory experiments, Gilbert N. Ling, Ph.D. was able to prove that the sodium/potassium pump theory in single-layered cells was totally erroneous. He cogently argues that without proper scientific understanding of the cell, diseases such as cancer cannot be properly understood, and therefore disease treatments based on such limited understanding of cancer will have limited effectiveness, if any at all. His newer theories resulted in development of the life-saving MRI (magnetic resonance imaging). On making his startling results known through professional publications he is denied further “research” funding from various organizations because, apparently, his laboratory proofs have gone against the accepted scientific dogma of the day. Nonetheless, Dr. Ling publishes his “research” findings in a book titled Life at the Cell and Below Cell Level, available through any bookstore.

A “researched” report on Dr. Ling’s “research” is printed in our Newsletters, and was also published in Townsend Letters for Doctors and Patients. You’ll also find two versions of this report in our Articles section, as “Correcting an Inaccurate Paradigm on Cellular Functions.”

What Kind of “Research” Does The Arthritis Trust of America Sponsor?

All of the above!

Members of The Arthritis Trust of America have synthesized medical literature about arthritis resulting in articles and books found on this website and in our newsletters and also published in Townsend Letter for Doctors and Patients.

When a restrictive state law was softened, we hired an attorney for development of a legal opinion on the impact of that law for practitioners and patients when using a particular treatment for arthritis and other diseases.

Some of us have traveled from clinic to clinic across the nation, and in some foreign countries to interview patients and doctors, also resulting in articles and books.

We’ve attended medical conventions, and later reported on important arthritis treatments. We’ve conducted our own medical conventions, bringing together patients, doctors and scientists interested in finding a genuine cure for various forms of arthritis.

We’ve observed treatments on patients, and, where appropriate, we’ve tried a large number of treatments on ourselves, evaluating the results from personal perspectives.

When funding was available, we’ve funded double-blind studies in a major medical university setting. We’ve also funded a number of university-level laboratory studies.

To survey the results of our “research,” just press any of the following buttons.

There’s a lot to read, so take your time!
